Umbria Jazz is undoubtedly one of the most important jazz festivals in Europe. Since it was inaugurated in 1973 the first edition of the Umbria Jazz Festival is performed in Perugia of the greatest artists of the genre: in the 70's Dizzy Gillespie, Sam Rivers, Herbie Hanckok, Enrico Rava, Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton and the most recent editions of the festival Dede Bridgewater, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Terence Blanchard, Paolo Conte, Vinicio Capossela, Nicola Arigliano, Miriam Makeba, Renzo Arbore and its Swing Maniacs, Sergio Cammariere, The Coolbone Brass Band of New Orleans, Lyle Henderson & Emmanuel Gospel Singers. The Umbria Jazz Festival 2009 will take place in July for ten days during which from morning to evening, without interruption, in the historical center of Perugia will take place dozens of concerts with music ranging proposals now on the horizon music to embrace the tastes of a more heterogeneous. Perugia will become, this year, a meeting point for thousands of music lovers, not only throughout Italy but also from Europe and the United States.
